Prelabeled Products

For filing systems that use color-coded indexing, product can be supplied from the factory with labels applied in sequence. Alphabetic, straight numeric, terminal digit or alpha-numeric indexing can be applied to products according to your specifications.

Prelabeled folders, jackets or pockets are an economical alternative to the labor-intensive process of hand labeling as files are created. For filing systems that use color-coded indexing, product can be supplied from the factory with labels applied in sequence. Alphabetic, straight numeric, terminal digit or alpha-numeric indexing can be applied to products according to your specifications. Typed name labels and barcode labels may also be supplied on products.

Strip Labels

Proforma will print strip labels to your specifications. We also have the capability to apply the label to the folder of your choice. This is extremely helpful in label conversions. When providing your specifications, it is essential that we receive the correct information for custom order items to ensure that your order is manufactured correctly.

Data received by Smead should be in one of the followingformats for label design and production: • Microsoft Access Database (*.mdb)
• Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet (*.xls)
• dBase compatible database (*dbf)

ASCII text file (*.txt) Delimited - fields in this type of text file are separated by either a unique character (one that does not appear in any place in your data) or by using commas (,) with quotes as a text qualifier (”). All fields should be exported as text, including numeric fields. Field names in the first record are helpful but not necessary.

ASCII text file (*.txt) Fixed Width - fields in this type of text file are in columns with a fixed length, with the data justified to the left of each column. There should be no blank records in your data and no page breaks, headers or footers. Data should either be mailed on a disk, CD or e-mailed as an attachment (Zip files are OK).

Numbering

Proforma has the capability to number practically any product in a variety of styles and formats. Numbering can be consecutive (1,2, 3...etc.), regular skip numbered (10, 20, 30...etc.) or irregular skip numbered to fit your specific requirements. Numbers can be positioned on tabs or anywhere else on the product. Horizontal numbering (for top tab) is available in three different type styles. See the illustration at bottom for examples. Vertical numbering (for end tab) is available in two different type styles as shown at left. When ordering vertical type style VR2, specify with or without dash (–). All numbering will be the type size shown. Specify style of numbering and location on product.
